Christmas creature drawings

The Germanic yuletide beast Krampus has become all the rage over here in America. Schmutzli is his slightly less grim counterpart from Switzerland (I learned about him from watching the Rick Steve's Europe Christmas special). After switching bad children I’d like to think they meet up for gingerbread and mulled wine at their local Christmas market.
Julenisser (Christmas gnomes) are my favorite Christmas creatures. In Norway and Denmark he is known as a “nisse”. In Sweden he is a “tomte” or “tomten”. Traditionally, Scandinavian families leave him a bowl of rice porridge overnight on Christmas eve, but I expect today’s gnomes wouldn’t mind a hot toaster pastry. (I painted a nisse miniature a few years back)

As you may have noticed, I haven't been posting on this blog very often. I'm trying to regularly post  drawings on my Tumblr blog, and I tweet nonsense every day on Twitter.
